Breast Augmentation in Santa Barbara, CA

Breast augmentation, also known as a “boob job,” may offer women the opportunity to attain the breast size and shape they desire to have. In Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, and Ventura, CA, as well as surrounding communities, Sara Yegiyants, MD, FACS, a triple board-certified plastic surgeon, performs breast augmentation to help women achieve their desired look.

What is Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation is a plastic surgery procedure to increase breast size. It is typically performed by placing silicone or saline filled implants behind the breast tissue or chest muscle or by adding fat harvested from other areas of the body into the breast. The result is larger, firmer breasts that create a curvier figure.

While most women are interested in larger breasts, breast augmentation may also involve breast implant removal or breast revision.

Breast Implant Removal. Breast implants are often removed for several reasons. Typically, there may be an issue with the implants or women want to restore their natural breast size.

Breast Revision. When women have a poor outcome from breast augmentation, they may seek a breast revision procedure. Dr. Yegiyants has superior knowledge of correcting inadequate breast augmentation procedures to help women achieve their desired look.

Who is a Good Candidate for Breast Augmentation?

Women who have always wanted larger breasts or want to restore their breasts to a rounder, firmer look and feel following breast feeding or a significant weight loss are good candidates for breast augmentation. Other women may have asymmetrical breasts and want them to look rounder and more balanced. Dr. Yegiyants evaluates each patient’s breasts and listens to their concerns and desires during a complimentary consultation. At that time, she also evaluates the breast’s anatomy and makes a recommendation for augmentation to achieve the desired look.

How is Breast Augmentation Performed?

Breast augmentation is performed by making an incision and inserting an implant either behind breast tissue or under the pectoral muscle to increase the size of the breasts. If saline implants are used, the solution is injected into the implant once it is in place. Once the implants are in place, the incisions are sutured and the breasts are bandaged and wrapped to protect and support them during the initial healing period. Patients may be provided with a compression garment to further support them and reduce discomfort.

How Long is the Recovery from Breast Augmentation?

The recovery from breast augmentation takes several weeks and requires patients to refrain from any heavy lifting and strenuous exercise. They may return to light work within a week following the surgery as well as light walking.

When Will I See the Results from Breast Augmentation?

The results from breast augmentation are immediate and improve over time. Once any scarring has significantly faded and any bruising and swelling go away, the results are fully visible and natural looking.

How Much Does Breast Augmentation Cost in Santa Barbara?

The cost of breast augmentation varies with each patient depending on several factors, including the type of implant and whether other procedures are performed during the same surgery. During the consultation, we review the costs as well as payment options, including financing through Alphaeon® and CareCredit®.
