Cheek Implants in Santa Barbara, CA
It’s all about having high cheekbones with a hollowed contour below them. Women in Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, and Ventura, CA, as well as the surrounding communities, consider cheek augmentation from Sara Yegiyants, MD, FACS, a triple board-certified plastic surgeon, for more prominent cheek bones and a stunning appearance.
What are Cheek Implants?
Cheek augmentation using implants is a surgical procedure that gives someone more prominent cheekbones. By implanting silicone implants, the contour of the face has much more structure and creates a stronger, more confident appearance.
About Cheek Implants
Sometimes adding cheek implants is not enough to achieve more contour to the facial structure. Those with excessively full looking cheeks may consider buccal fat pad removal. The buccal fat pads are the areas between the cheeks and nostrils, or mouth, which gives the appearance of chipmunk cheeks – the areas of the face that Grandma always wants to pinch.
Why Choose Cheek Implants?
A strong or defined cheek structure balances the other facial features. Cheek implants create more contour by lifting the cheekbones and prominent apples on the cheeks.
Who is a Good Candidate for Cheek Implants?
Anyone, including young or older people, who has a less prominent facial structure may benefit from cheek implants. Additionally, it is also performed on people who have suffered trauma to the face.
How is Cheek Augmentation Performed?
The process of getting cheek implants involves inserting the implants into the cheek area through incisions made inside the mouth at the top of the gums or inside the lower lids based on where the implants are to be placed. Small pockets are made by removing excess cheek tissue to make room for the implants. Once they are in place, the incisions are closed. Cheek implants are often part of facial surgery procedures, such as facelifts, to fully get the benefits of the procedure.

How is the Recovery from Cheek Augmentation?
Following cheek implant surgery, patients are urged to take a week off work and daily activities to rest and allow the area to heal. It is best to wear a support on the face when sleeping and to keep the head elevated for the first week following surgery to allow the area to heal and to protect it. Once the stitches are removed a week or so after surgery, patients may resume light activities. It is important; however, to refrain from strenuous activities including heavy lifting and anything that requires bending over for at least a month.

When Will I See the Results from Cheek Implants?
As the swelling decreases, the cheek implants become somewhat more noticeable. The results from cheek implant surgery should be subtle to others in such a way that patients look fresher and more attractive without looking like they have had “work” done. Since cheek implants are silicone, the results are permanent although it is important to maintain a healthy diet and exercise regimen to avoid any weight gain in the face.
How Much Do Cheek Implants Cost in Santa Barbara?
The cost of cheek implants is different with each patient based on the extent of the surgery and whether it is done in conjunction with other procedures. We discuss the costs with patients during the initial consultation as well as payment and financing options.
