Ellacor for Sagging Skin
When considering wrinkle reduction treatment in Santa Barbara, we understand many women and men want natural-looking results without the discomfort and extended downtime of surgery or invasive treatments. That’s why triple board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Sara Yegiyants offers Ellacor skin tightening in Ventura, CA.
Ellacor is the most advanced technology for minimally invasive skin tightening and wrinkle reduction. The Ellacor system belongs to a new aesthetic device category that uses fractional micro-coring technology to eliminate excess skin without incisions or the risk of scarring.
What Is Ellacor?
The Ellacor System with Micro-Coring Technology is an innovative wrinkle and sagging skin treatment device that helps produce natural-looking results with minimal downtime. It is FDA-approved for treating the mid to lower face, including the cheeks, the area around the mouth, and under the chin. An Ellacor treatment typically takes 30 to 45 minutes.
What Is Micro-Coring Technology?
Micro-coring technology removes micro-cores of skin without the formation of scars. The process tightens skin and reduces unsightly wrinkles. The National Library of Medicine conducted a study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of micro-coring technology for the treatment of facial wrinkles.
Its findings revealed micro-coring technology led to significant improvement of facial wrinkles with high patient satisfaction and fast recovery time and concluded it—”should be considered in patients who are seeking minimally invasive treatment for wrinkles of the face.”
Ideal Candidates for Ellacor
The Ellacor System is an excellent option for adults who are 40 or older and desire to improve skin laxity and facial aging. However, Ellacor’s Micro-Coring Technology is approved for Fitzpatrick skin types I-IV, so it may not be suitable for patients with darker skin tones. In addition, pregnant women and patients with medical conditions that inhibit proper wound healing should not consider Ellacor.
How Does Ellacor Work?
Ellacor employs the fractional tissue extraction process of micro-coring to help rejuvenate your skin. Advanced facial aging that has produced lax skin and deep wrinkles can be challenging to treat effectually without surgery. However, Ellacor helps deliver a smoother, tighter, youthful skin presence without the risks of surgery like scarring. The Ellacor technology allows the micro-excisional removal of excess skin with tiny hollow needles. The needles are precise enough for deep penetration without producing scars. Here’s the Ellacor treatment at a glance:
- We will administer a local anesthetic to the treatment area for comfort
- Yegiyants will strategically position the Ellacor device in the treatment area to create micro-cores in a precise pattern
- Extra skin will be removed through the hollow needles
- The micro-cores are so tiny they begin to heal almost immediately
- In-office treatment with local anesthesia
- No incisions or risk of scarring
- Removes skin volume in similar amounts to a facelift
- Quick healing with minimal downtime
- Removes damaged skin from targeted areas with precision
- Diminishes the appearance of wrinkles
- It helps reduce the appearance of marionette lines and jowls
- Long-lasting, natural-looking results
Schedule a Consultation
Ready to take the next steps towards booking a procedure? Schedule your consultation today to begin your aesthetic journey with Sara Yegiyants, MD, FACS.
You will have approximately three days of downtime, and your skin may look red and feel sore and swollen. Complete closure of the micro-cores can take up to a week, so use only gentle products as directed by Dr. Yegiyants. You need to avoid sun exposure during recovery. Wear sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or greater for longer-lasting benefits.
When Will I See My Ellacor Results?
Your results become evident after a few weeks. Your skin remodels via the natural healing process. Most patients require two to three sessions spaced thirty days apart. Full results may not appear for several months as your body produces new collagen to help restructure a firm skin network. Expect Ellacor outcomes to be long-lasting. Additional follow-up treatments can maintain optimal improvement.

Santa Barbara Ellacor FAQs
Dr. Yegiyants will administer the appropriate topical anesthesia before beginning your Ellacor procedure for your comfort. Most patients report the discomfort level as less than two on a scale of zero to ten.
As every patient has different needs and aesthetic goals, Dr. Yegiyants will assess your skin quality and discuss your cosmetic concerns to determine how many Ellacor treatment sessions are necessary. Typically, two to four treatments scheduled four to six weeks apart will get the job done.
Ellacor removes micro-portions of excess skin to improve the appearance of wrinkles. In contrast, many other skin revitalization devices employ heat generated by laser radiofrequency or ultrasound energy to induce intentional thermal skin injury.
Recovery ranges from several days to weeks, varying by patient and treatment settings. Since different patients heal at different rates, patient experience and outcomes vary.
The Ellacor system can remove the skin on a microscale without using thermal energy.
Microneedling uses tiny needles to injure the tissue, but it does not remove the skin; rather, microneedling only temporarily displaces the tissue. Ellacor technology is the first treatment to remove excess skin on a microscale.
Because darker skin types (V and VI) can react differently to cosmetic treatments than lighter skin types (I-IV), Ellacor may not be the best option for darker skin tones. During your consultation, ask Dr. Yegiyants to suggest other skin tightening procedures that are more appropriate for your skin tone.
Dr. Yegiyants will provide a comprehensive list of requirements and guidelines during your consultation.
