Sculptra® in Santa Barbara, CA
The fullness of facial skin begins to diminish as we get older. Dermal fillers offer a way to restore the volume lost. Sara Yegiyants, MD, FACS, a triple board-certified plastic surgeon, uses Sculptra® on people living in and around Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, and Ventura, CA, to regain a more youthful appearance and smooth complexion.
What is Sculptra®?
Sculptra® is a dermal filler FDA approved for the treatment of wrinkles, lines, creases and folds that develop with age. It uses a biocompatible synthetic substance, poly-L-lactic acid, which stimulates collagen production in the deeper layers of the skin. When this occurs, the collagen travels to the upper layers of skin smoothing it and creating a radiant complexion.
Why Choose Sculptra®?
Sculptra® is long lasting with patients enjoying continued results of two years or more. It boosts collagen production in the body to add volume and smooth moderate to severe imperfections. Sculptra® is often selected because of how long the results last – two years and sometimes even longer.

Who is a Good Candidate for Sculptra®?
Good candidates for Sculptra® typically have deeper wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth – nasolabial folds and marionette lines – that bring down the face’s expression. Those with hollowed or sunken cheeks may also benefit from Sculptra®.
How is Sculptra® Administered?
Sculptra® is injected into the targeted areas just like other dermal fillers. Once injected, the treatment is complete and the body works with the poly-L-lactic acid in Sculptra® to boost collagen production. As this happens, volume is returned to the treated areas and the skin looks smoother and rejuvenated. Depending on the extent of the areas to be treated, it may take more than one treatment to achieve the desired look. Each treatment is spread out about six to eight weeks apart. Each Sculptra® treatment is completed within about 30 minutes. If necessary, Dr. Yegiyants may apply a numbing cream to the targeted areas to eliminate any slight discomfort. Once the treatment is complete, patients return to their daily activities.
